TIRUVANMIYUR– Chaska is a new food truck at Tiruvanmiyur RTO Beach offering Tibetan food in the evenings. Rajesh “Rikki” Raj serves up varieties of fast food and dinner at the truck.
Momos are eternal favourites, says Raj, followed by kothes, which are part-fried and part-steamed. The trucks are on what is informally called the “Eat Street” of the beach, near the police booth.
Spices for the dishes are brought in from Kalimpong, on the Indo-Tibetan border.
The truck is open from 4 p.m. to 10:30 on weekdays and stays open until 11:30 over weekends. Raj suggests getting there before 8 p.m. to try out the momos as they run out quickly.
