Monday evening rains did a world of good to the Adyar neighbourhood. It cooled down the place and promised a cool Tuesday morning.
The rains came down at about 6 p.m. on Monday and after a lull the downpour was ready and trailed into the night.
However, the pools of rainwater in inner streets of Adyar showed up the continuing civic issues that plague each ward; blocked drains, blocked water flow passages and garbage mounds that hinder flow of water.
In Sastri Nagar, drain filters which were set up a year ago are not cleaned of the silt and leaf waste that clog it. Just one indicator of the work that teams of Chennai Coproration’s Units must undertake now.
