This past week, civic workers have been cleaning the drains in Sastri Nagar. But they have left behind a stink.
This is because the muck in the drains is wet and dirty due to the recent short spell of rains and this is the muck that was cleared and dumped on the pavements – as seen on Sastri Nagar’s 11th Cross Street on Tuesday.
Residents said that the workers said the muck would be cleared quickly by others. If it isn’t, and it rains the dirt may flow back into the drain.
And the effort to prepare the area for the monsoon will be wasted.
Also, the soak pits created along the roadsides have to be cleared of mud and general waste to make them effective filters.
